About us

The Churches' interventions in discussion of London's Economy need to be based on sound information.

Our purpose is to draw together the expertise of a wide variety of people working in London and to make this available.

a) to advise on ways and means of the church fulfilling a ministry towards the industrial, commercial and urban community;

b) to encourage and extend the work of the industrial chaplains;

c) to forward the training of Christian leadership and

d) to stimulate public opinion on relations between the Christian faith and industrial, commercial and economic life.

We operate through four practitioner groups related to the objectives set out below.

Mission in London's Economy was launched on the 9th March 2005. The full conference report can be seen here. (It was formerly known as the South London Industrial Mission.)

Mission in London's Economy is a registered company with charitable status.

Our objectives are:

To co-ordinate the churches' interventions in discussion of London's economy

To respond on behalf of the churches to consultation exercises on London's economy

To recruit, train, support, insure and supervise workplace chaplains

To support Christians working in the institutions of London's economy

To educate churches in the issues facing London's economy so that they might be able to respond appropriately

To work with other faith communities in order to create coordinated faith-community responses to the issues facing London's economy
